GREAT NEWS! IMLI has found her fur-ever home. Heather and Marty Vierck of Harvard, Ill and their 2 daughters Terra and Torie fell in love with Imli at first sight. Imli just arrived a week ago from New Delhi, India

Imli’s Story:

Imli = the spice ‘tamarind’ in Hindi – is the sole surviving pup of her litter in New Delhi, India. There were at least three other siblings.

An incredible woman named Lata, who rescued Bella (formerly Ducky) and Zella (formerly Jhumki), noticed the tiny pups and their mother soon after she gave birth. The mother dog was malnourished or ill, and she was in terrible shape.

Blessed was the decision of this mother to have her babies so close to Lata’s compassionate eye! Lata was able to keep a distant but constant watch over them.

On August 31, Delhi experienced horrendous monsoon rains. Lata concluded that all of Imli’s siblings drowned, as Imli was the only pup seen with her mother after those rains.

Imli and her mother, both of whom were still malnourished and pathetic, stayed on the street receiving care from Lata. In mid-October, Lata could no longer watch this sad little survivor; she brought Imli inside.

Lata first mentioned her sighting of the litter to Meredith, a rescue partner in New Delhi. Once Zella joined the ISDF family, Meredith could attend to ‘the next steps’ for tiny Imli.

Imli is currently being fostered by the family who fostered Murphy (formerly Phantom), Bailey (formerly Christine), Murdoch (formerly Max), and Maggie.

Imli is a beautiful red Desi who loves to lap-cuddle! She is sweet, overall calm, and great with children. She is still little, even at five months-old!

Mother dog remains on the street, but she is healthier due to Lata’s dedicated attention, and she will be sterilized.

Imli arrived from New Delhi, India into Chicago on January 7th.  Imli is current on vaccinations, house trained, and crate trained.  she has journeyed a long distance to find her forever home.  If you are interested in adopting Imli please contact Dawn Trimmel at info@istreetdog.com.  You can find our adoption application here.
