GREAT NEWS…. Joy … now named Dani Joy Cruz is home!! Joy was rescued from the streets of Istanbul, Turkey. Yesterday she joined the family of Catherine Cruz of Zion, IL.

Cat had recently lost her dog and wanted another 4 legged companion to fill the void in her family. Dani is a perfect addition and her 3 children are ecstatic to welcome him home!! He is getting smothered with love. The way it should be ..)

Dani’s mom Hope will be traveling soon to Chicago and will be joining the family as well. Definitely a fairy tail ending for this sweet mother and son.

Thank you to Seda Cinar for making this all possible! Most importantly thank you to Cat Cruz and her family for making Dani’s dreams come true!

You too can save a life.

Pre-Adoption Post

I’m young Mr. Joy, a 5-month old pup coming straight from Istanbul to Chicago on January 8 to brighten your world! My wonderful mom Hope will be following soon after, as we begin the next chapter of our lives, hopeful and full of joy! If you haven’t already fallen in love with my flop ears and sweet face from my photos, I know you will when you meet me.

Seda, my rescuer, is my hero! She has told me my rescue story many times. The life of a stray dog in Turkey is very difficult–they are kicked, abused, poisoned, shot, or killed by cars. There are few shelters or available adoptive homes in Istanbul, but thousands of stray and abandoned dogs, and many are picked up and dumped in the nearby forests, and left to fend for themselves. There is no way these dogs can survive without the support of a group of animal advocates who drop off food and look after the dogs as well as they can given limited resources. Seda is one of these devoted volunteers.

One day, soon after arriving at the forest for her feeding rounds, a small German Shepherd mix dog caught Seda’s eye. This beautiful dog had a government ear tag to signify that she had been spayed, but her heavily pregnant condition showed otherwise. Before Seda could get over her shock, this dog jumped into the open back of the car, so Seda brought her home. After 10 days with Seda, this sweet dog, whom she named Hope (yes! It was my mom!), gave birth to 11 puppies. Out of these, only 5 survived. Ever since that day, we have been under Seda’s protective wings. Seda found adoptive homes for each of my siblings. Now only me and my mom need homes–Seda says she saved the best for last!

I am a happy puppy, and would play ball all day if I could! I love adults and children, and even tolerate getting dressed up, so I’ll be ready for the cold, Midwestern winter. I have been living in a nice garden, so I still need to be house-trained, and I since I am still a young puppy, expect a little mischief and much enthusiasm. I’m up to date on vaccinations, and I’m great with other dogs, though my heart still belongs to my best friend, Mom! Nothing would be better than finding a home together. Mom is an all-around lovely, well-behaved and confident dog, and I’ve learned a lot from her already.

I know you could use more joy in your world, and I really hope you can make me (and maybe my mom too) a part of yours! From an Istanbul forest to your Midwestern home and backyard, let Heaven and Nature sing!
