RIP Dear Sammie

RIP Dear Sammie

It is with heavy heart that I communicate that Sammie passed of kidney failure on December 18, 2015.

Sammie was just a little over a year old and up until the kidney failure signs became evident – he was a joyful, energetic, athletic dog who loved life and his family very much.  As his mom Kristen tells us,  he was a dog of amazing athleticism that could leap and catch objects in mid-air.  He also loved his family very much and was also very gentle around his human siblings.  The love was mutual as his family loved him dearly and cherished his short time on earth.

Sammie was adopted by Jaime Prickett and Kristen Elliott of Madison, WI in October 2014 at just 4 months old.  He was one of 4 siblings that journeyed from New Delhi, India to Chicago in search of a better life …. a forever home. Rescued by the Ashram Shelter and then fostered by Simmi and Rod Harding in New Delhi.  These small pups had luck and good fate on their side despite their rough start to life.  All 4 settled in the Midwest into happy homes.  There are many people shedding a tear for Sammie – a precious life ended prematurely.

Kristen and Jaime still fresh with heartbreak reached out to ISDF last week and told us that they wanted to honor Sammie’s short life and help other rescues from similar backgrounds on their journey to find happiness.  They are ISDF’s newest foster home and just yesterday took Jimmy, (another rescue New Delhi with a similar background to Sammie) into their loving home to foster until his forever family is found.  This is proof there are angels among us and that there is nothing random to the way life unfolds.  Sammie left his mark on many people’s hearts and because of his existence and love he gave, many other dogs will go on to have the same chance of finding a loving home as Sammie did.

I am so sorry to read about the loss of Sammie but at least he knew a loving home with kind people and did not pass away alone on a lonely street. Thank you to everyone who helped him enjoy his short life and the kind souls who continue to make a difference to the lives of these poor, sweet helpless souls.

  2. Thank you Jaime and Kristen…
